Cobalt was our selection of the 2023 Manzano Angus bull sale, he was not only the standout in terms of overall balance, but hails from a dam proven on range and possesses the immortal OCC Paxton 730P as the most prevalent sire in his multi generational pedigree. We cant expect cattle to be consistent if they are not bred consistently and that is a major value factor with this bull. Cobalt has transmitted muscle, eye appeal, fleshing ability and most of all uniformity to his calves. Our intent with this bull was to put Paxton, Rear End and a solid range cow in the base of every pedigree we have and he has done that with style.

Our appreciation for correct, well bred, sound and maternally superior cattle is wrapped up in this bull quite well. We were very anxious to get to Van Dyke's to see him and were even more excited to get him home. This bull has unmatched foot quality, proven in our travels and personal experience, as well as exudes breed character and high libido. His pathfinder mother VDAR Beauty 4321 is a true producer with a WR of 116. She is also the dam of VDAR Cedar Wind 5126 who has been a leading sire for VanDyke Angus, Southern Cattle Co. and our program as well. His sire, U-2 Coalition 206C is also a pathfinder and stamps foot quality, length and big time femininity in his daughters. We plan to use this bull heavily going forward to bring the maternal greatness of his pedigree, superior foot quality, impeccable structure and performance into each of our pedigrees.

Alloy was the pick of our 2024 bull calves to carry the torch of his sire 2652 and insert the calving ease and foundational qualities of the Rachel cow family. With an actual BW of just 59lbs, he provides peace of mind without sacrificing phenotype and volume. We knew Alloy had potential as a young calf when he started to develop a crest at 3mo old and was heat checking cows alongside his sire with the same persistence, things have only improved from there. We are very careful and precise about what cows we choose to bring in via a bulls pedigree and the 2100 cow is a model for us. She stands on ideal feet, has a superb udder in terms of levelness, teat size/uniformity, attachment and production. In our environment she is the right balance of fleshing ability and milking ability. Although a young cow, she has proven to sort herself upfront in the calving season every year. We must check the boxes in production first, but we very much enjoy seeing cows that have a recognizable phenotype from across a ridge and 2100 is one of them! We are hoping to use Alloy as a tool to bring in the Rachel cow family, CE, added depth, a balance of fleshing ability and production and last but not least a standout phenotype.
